Centralise material sign-off
Having one point of contact on your team approve grade/finish/quantity before ordering avoids the common problem of a site supervisor and a project manager giving a supplier conflicting instructions.
Track deliveries against the specification, not just the quantity
Confirm delivered material matches the agreed grade and finish on arrival, not after installation — catching a mismatch before it's welded in place is far cheaper to fix.
Keep documentation for every batch
Invoices and, where relevant, mill certificates should be filed against each delivery — useful both for your own project records and for any downstream client documentation requirements.
