Safety height matters more here
Terraces see more varied use than balconies — functions, children playing, furniture being moved — which makes the safety spacing and height norms in our spacing guide worth taking seriously rather than treating as a minimum to just clear.
Design for actual use, not just view
If the terrace is used for gatherings or sitting out, consider railing height and visibility together — a taller, more substantial railing may be worth the small extra cost versus a minimal one that's technically compliant but doesn't feel comfortable to lean against.
