Stainless Steel Pergola & Outdoor Structure Fabrication

Outdoor structures take the harshest exposure of anything we fabricate — steel's advantages compound here.

Stainless steel outdoor structure fabrication

Why steel over wood for outdoor structures

Wood pergolas need regular treatment and eventually rot or warp; steel doesn't need repainting or periodic sealing, and holds structural integrity through years of sun and rain exposure without the maintenance cycle wood demands.

Design considerations

Structural framing typically uses heavier bar/pipe sections than railing work (see our bars & sections page) — outdoor structures carry more load (wind, sometimes climbing plants) than a decorative railing.

Grade and finish for full outdoor exposure

Full weather exposure (not just occasional contact like a balcony railing) makes this exactly the scenario where 316 grade earns its cost — see our grade comparison. Matte/hairline finish is standard here for practical maintenance reasons.

Combining with other materials

Steel-framed structures often pair with wood slat roofing or fabric shade elements — steel handles the structural load and weather exposure while the softer material provides shade and warmth of look.
