Stainless Steel Kitchen Sink Fabrication Guide

Sinks take more daily abuse than almost any other steel item in a building — gauge and grade matter here.

Custom stainless steel kitchen sink fabrication

Grade: 304 is the practical standard

304 grade is standard for sinks — it handles constant water contact, food acids and cleaning chemicals well (see our grade guide). Lower grades in a sink application will show staining and pitting far sooner.

Gauge matters more than buyers expect

A thinner-gauge sink dents more easily, flexes under load, and transmits more noise when water hits it. Thicker gauge costs more but feels and performs noticeably better in daily use — this is one place where the cheaper option is genuinely noticeable.

Custom vs standard

Custom fabrication makes sense for non-standard counter dimensions, multi-bowl commercial layouts, or integrated drainboards sized to a specific space — see our commercial kitchen guide for the wider fit-out context.

Finish and maintenance

Brushed/satin finish is standard for sinks since it hides water spotting and scratches far better than mirror — and for Jaipur's hard water specifically, see our hard water guide.
