Modular vs Custom Stainless Steel Staircases

Modular systems are faster and cheaper — the question is whether your space actually fits one.

What modular systems offer

Prefabricated modular staircase kits come in standard rises and widths, ship quickly and install fast. If your opening happens to match a standard configuration, they're genuinely cost-effective and there's no reason to over-engineer the decision.

Where they fall short

Most real staircases in Indian homes and buildings aren't standard — irregular floor-to-floor heights, curved walls, tight landings. Forcing a modular system into a non-standard space usually means compromises in comfort and safety (uneven riser heights are a real hazard).

What custom fabrication buys you

Exact fit to your actual measured space, design freedom on baluster style and finish (see our design guide), and consistent riser heights throughout — at the cost of longer lead times and higher price.

How to decide

Measure your opening first (our site visit checklist applies), then check whether a standard system genuinely fits without compromising step geometry. If it does, take it. If it doesn't, custom is the honest answer rather than a sales pitch.
