What it is
Instead of vertical bar balusters, cable/rod railing uses horizontal (or occasionally vertical) tensioned stainless steel rods or cables strung between posts. The result reads as far less visually dense than a traditional baluster railing.
Why it's gaining interest
For contemporary architecture wanting minimal visual obstruction — especially where a view matters — cable systems sit between full bar railings and full glass in both look and cost. They're still uncommon in Jaipur specifically, so expect a more custom, made-to-order process than a standard baluster railing.
Practical considerations
- Requires proper tensioning hardware and sturdy end posts — this isn't a DIY-friendly system.
- Local code/safety norms for gap spacing still apply, same as with balusters (see our spacing guide).
- Being less common locally means fewer fabricators have direct experience — ask specifically about prior cable-system work before committing.
