Stainless Steel Bollards & Street Furniture

Public-facing steel takes abuse no residential railing ever will — the spec has to account for that.

Stainless steel bollards in a public space setting

Bollards: function first

Bollards control vehicle access and protect pedestrians — which means the structural fixing into the ground matters far more than the visible finish. A bollard that looks right but isn't anchored properly hasn't done its job.

Why public installations are harder on material

Constant contact, occasional impact, exposure to the elements year-round, and zero maintenance attention in most cases — this combination is why 316 grade and matte finishes make sense here (see our grade guide), rather than a mirror finish that will show every scuff.

Removable and fixed options

Removable or fold-down bollards allow controlled vehicle access when needed — worth specifying upfront, since retrofitting a removable mechanism into a fixed installation isn't practical.

Matching a wider streetscape scheme

Bollards, benches, signage stands (see our signage guide) and planters (see our planters guide) are usually specified together for visual consistency across a public space — worth planning as one package.
